Thanks to the generosity of the Inclusive Communities Fund we delighted to be starting working on a a community production of The Railway Children with local residents aged 16+.

This will be a professionally produced and directed piece of open-air theatre, performed at the Little but LIVE! Festival in Moseley Park on the 21st and 22nd September. There will be two professional actors - already cast - supporting a company of amateur actors made up of local residents and community members.

Why should you sign up?

This is a fantastic opoprtunity to get creative with the local community, make new friends, learn new skills and be part of a show you can be really proud of!

When will rehearsals be?

Rehearsals will take place over August and September, scheduled around participant availability (we anticipate mainly during evenings and weekends), so if you've got a little time to give we can fit you into a smaller role or if you've got a lot you may be able to take on a leading character! You need to be available for the performance dates on the 21st and 22nd September but don't have to have full availability before then.

Do you need previous acting experience?

No! The opportunity to audition is open to all, and if you are at all interested we really encourage you to sign up even if you've never stepped foot on a stage. The two professional actors and director will help you build your confidence and skills throughout the rehearsal process.

How do you sign up?

We have auditions available

Wednesday 17th July between 5.30 and 7.30

Thursday 18th July between 6.00pm and 9.00pm

Select a slot via the link below:

If you are not available for any of the times available, please email us at and we can arrange and alternative.

What will the auditions be like?

We offer a mix of individual or group auditions.

If you sign up for a group audition, this will be like a workshop - we'll do some group activities and then you'll be broken into smaller groups to work on some bits of text together. This is a really fun, low pressure way to try things out and a great way for us to see how you work in a group.

We would love for you to come to a group audition but if you would prefer an individual one they will be a quick 20 minute meeting with our director Lucy Bird and possibly one other member of the creative team. You will be asked to read some small bits of text to help us  understand which parts you would be able to play and most suited to. It will be a nice informal chat and we'll email you information in advance so you know what is happening.

If you'd like to audition but you're not available for any of the time slots advertised please email us at and we can see if we can work out an alternative time for you.
